Wellness Center

A safe and secure place where women and their children who are experiencing Family and Domestic Violence can access resources they need on their road to recovery.

We advocate for an holistic approach by the community to collaborate when breaking the intergenerational cycle of family and domestic violence.

A wellness center that provides wrap around services and assistance to women and children experiencing and/or escaping family and domestic violence. A place where a woman might come to seek legal advice for a restraining order, though as she arrives she finds there are Dr services and trained staff at the wellness center recognizes the urgency of Dr prior to legal services offers this to the victim/victor as an option before seeking legal services.

It could be that a victim/victor don’t know what they need, they might not be ready to seek assistance but they can come in and sit in peace reading about the wrap around services that are provided. When she is ready, the services are there for her to her path to recovery.

Why all services in one center?

One of the approaches is to provide as many services as possible that is needed for a victim/survivor at one location, on her road to recovery. This is to minimize the pressure and stress on the victims/victors and their children who may already be under an enormeous pressure and experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD). Restoration for the victim/victor is more likely to be smoother and potentially faster when only having to access one location where familiarity and trust can be built on the road to recovery.

We are convinced there are more ways than our model, the order of which we share the recommendations is not necessarily the order for a victim/victor of family and domestic violence needing assistance though we appreciate your constructive feedback if you see how we could improve our recommendations below:

Wrap Around Services

Legal Services

  • Financial Services

  • Counceling

  • Dr

Pooled Resources

  • L

This is where local Rotary clubs and their members can reach out to their local Service Providers (Path of Hope’s preferred, but not limited to, Service Provider is Salvation Army) and ask how they may best assist.

We have not rested a minute since the vision of Path of Hope in 2012 to have a local joint venture partnership between Rotary clubs and Salvation Army globally. We felt hopefulness in this very simple and empowering collaboration between two of the worlds most majestic non for profit organisations working together locally in how they believe will break the interdenominational cycle of Family and Domestic Violence in their local communities.

We have asked many questions over many years from all stake holders along with the victims/survivors/victors of Family and Domestic Violence, we have together safely piloted joint programs to make a sustainable, positive and empowering impact on the women and children’s path to recovery.

We welcome anyone who would like to break the cycle of family and domestic violence to take inspiration from our recommendations though we urge you if you are inexperienced in this space to reach out to your local Rotary club, Salvation Army or other reputable member organisation or service provider to ensure you have a strong support network around you when you in however small or big way, champion to break the cycle of family and domestic violence for one person or maybe even your whole community.

Path of Hope have found it extremely important by listening and asking questions to the front line staff and the victims/victors - What they want!

Together with the networks of the business people in Rotary we have had great success with our pilots. Some of the concepts below are inspired by already functioning projects in other places, we believe in learning from others instead of wasting our time on reinventing the wheel.

Outreach Worker

Domestic violence outreach workers is a great support to women and children who are experiencing or escaping from family and domestic violence. Family and Domestic violence outreach workers could provide secondary consultation and information and be involved in community education and Primary Prevention programs.

Outreach workers support victims/survivors/victors of family and domestic violence in many ways:

  • working with women to develop safety plans to enhance the safety of themselves and their children

  • providing information on options and resources, referral to other services, and case management support. Support may involve advocacy with Centrelink, court support, referral to other services (Office of Housing or a Front Door), counselling and financial counselling.
